About Ninkowar Inc.

Ninkowar is an incorporated organisation run by Ngarrindjeri Miminar (women) to bring women together to maintain, protect and share Ngarrindjeri cultural heritage and to take ownership of our own health and wellbeing through celebrating living culture across our nation.
We do this through the following Cultural programs and activities:
Empower women and their families
Preserve and protect significant areas of interest to Ngarrindjeri women
Create, facilitate and deliver cross cultural experiences, education and awareness
Present unique cultural experiences based on Ngarrindjeri culture
Encourage personal health and wellbeing for Mimni (women) and Korni (men) in the Ngarrindjeri and wider local community
Build work and life skills and create employment opportunities for Ngarrindjeri and their families

Our History

Ninkowar became incorporated in 2000 an interim committee was appointed to develop the core business of Ninkowar woman who fought for the Ngarrindjeri women rights. There were many obstacles which stalled the development of our incorporation and we sat silently waiting to bring the incorporation back to life. In 2008 we registered and revitalised Ninkowar Incorporated. We set up in an office at Kalparrin for 1 year, and then found a site here at Old Pomberuk Cultural Centre (2010) which is now Ninkowar Inc.
